Bridge of Incidents
Also known as The bridge
After you mentally picture your goal as already done, you stop planning how it will happen and instead notice and follow the unexpected chain of real-world events — conversations, opportunities, even apparent setbacks — that naturally leads you there.
Moderate The term has 10+ dedicated YouTube explainer videos and multiple TikTok discover pages (tiktok.com/discover/bridge-of-incidents, tiktok.com/discover/bridge-of-incidents-law-of-assumption). What it is
The Bridge of Incidents is Neville Goddard's term for the series of natural, often surprising events that unfolds between the moment you fully assume a desire is already real and the moment it appears in physical reality. Goddard taught that imagination is the invisible cause; the chain of incidents is merely the visible effect — so you do not engineer the path, you walk it as it appears. Practitioners hold their end-state assumption steady, stay alert to unexpected doors opening (or closing), and take action on what arises without crediting those events as the true cause. The concept was introduced in his July 19, 1968 lecture "Live in the End," delivered at Marines' Memorial Club, San Francisco.
How to do it
- Set a specific end-state: define exactly what it looks and feels like for your desire to already be fulfilled — not the steps to get there, just the finished scene.
- Use a visualization or SATS (state akin to sleep) session to vividly live inside that fulfilled scene until it feels real to your senses.
- Release all mental planning of 'how.' Goddard's instruction is explicit: do not give causal credit to any physical step you might take.
- Return to daily life and pay attention. Notice coincidences, unexpected conversations, opportunities, or even apparent obstacles — these are the bridge forming.
- Take inspired action on whatever arises naturally, without forcing or second-guessing whether it fits your expected route.
- When events look negative (a job loss, a relationship shift), resist interpreting them as failures; Goddard taught these are often necessary links in the chain.
- Maintain the assumption — return to your end-state feeling daily — until the desire manifests fully.
What people use it for
- specific person (SP) / romantic reconciliation
- general manifestation of any desire
- career and job changes
- money and financial shifts
- trust-the-process mindset during the 'waiting period'
Where it comes from
Neville Goddard (1905–1972), specifically from his lecture 'Live in the End,' delivered July 19, 1968, at the Marines' Memorial Club, San Francisco. The phrase appears verbatim in that lecture and has been circulated widely through Goddard's posthumously published lecture transcripts since the early 2000s. The concept also has a parallel in Charles Haanel's Master Key System (cited by some teachers), but Goddard's formulation and the specific phrase are the cultural origin point.
