Synchronicities / Repeating Numbers
Also known as Synchronicity
You notice a repeating number sequence (like 11:11 or 333) during your day, pause to note what you were thinking or feeling, log it in a journal, look up its assigned meaning, and treat the pattern as confirmation you are on track toward your goal.
Mainstream The #angelnumbers hashtag has 1.6 billion views on TikTok and the #angelnumber hashtag has been watched by 77.6 million users; multiple YouTube explainers on the topic (Sadhguru, dedicated spirituality channels) each accumulate millions of views, and mainstream outlets including Bustle, The Good Trade, and Brilliant Earth have published dedicated guides to the practice.
What it is
Rooted in Carl Jung's 1952 concept of synchronicity — meaningful coincidences that lack direct causation — the practice asks people to treat repeating number sequences (111, 222, 333, 444, 1111, etc.) as personalized signals from the universe or their own subconscious confirming that a desired outcome is in motion. Practitioners build a daily habit of noticing these sequences wherever they appear (clocks, receipts, license plates), record the context in a journal, decode the number's assigned meaning, and respond with a brief gratitude statement or affirmation. The practice is widely framed in the manifestation community as a feedback loop: the more you notice confirmatory signs, the more you reinforce belief that your goal is coming, which sustains the emotional state considered necessary for manifestation.
How to do it
- Set an intention or goal you are working to manifest, so you have a reference point when signs appear.
- Go about your normal day. When a repeating number catches your attention on a clock, receipt, license plate, or screen, pause and take three slow breaths rather than scrolling past.
- Notice and record: write down the number, the time, and what you were thinking or feeling in that exact moment. A phone note or dedicated journal both work.
- Look up the commonly assigned meaning for that sequence (111 = new beginnings / manifestation in motion; 222 = alignment and trust; 333 = creative expansion; 444 = stability and protection; 555 = change incoming), then compare it against your own intuitive sense of what it means for your situation.
- Say or write a brief acknowledgment — something like 'I see this and I am grateful' — to consciously register the sign rather than letting it pass unnoticed.
- If the number carries a directive meaning (555 often signals a needed change), take one small concrete action within 24 hours that moves toward your goal.
- Review your synchronicity journal weekly to spot patterns: which numbers repeat, and in what emotional contexts. Use patterns to refine your focus or adjust your approach.

Where it comes from
The conceptual foundation is Carl Jung's 1952 essay "Synchronicity: An Acausal Connecting Principle," in which he defined meaningful coincidences as evidence of an acausal connecting principle in reality. The numerological layer — assigning fixed meanings to specific repeating sequences — draws on Pythagorean numerology and was widely popularized in the late 1990s and 2000s by New Age teachers and Doreen Virtue's angel number books. The practice reached mainstream pop-culture saturation via TikTok spiritual communities between roughly 2020 and 2024.
