EFT Tapping for Manifestation

Also known as Tapping, Emotional Freedom Technique

You tap your fingertips on nine specific face and body points in sequence while saying out loud the fear or belief blocking your goal, then repeat the sequence while saying the opposite — what you want to believe instead.

Mainstream Nick Ortner's "The Tapping Solution" is a NYT bestseller translated into 30 languages; the Tapping World Summit has drawn over 1 million attendees; The Tapping Solution app reports 4M+ users and 18M+ completed sessions. On YouTube, Brad Yates' "Tap with Brad" channel has 420K+ subscribers and 60M+ views across 1,000+ videos. On TikTok, creator Haley Hoffman Smith (@haleyhoffmansmith) has 400K+ followers with individual EFT tapping manifestation videos exceeding 112K likes.

What it is

EFT Tapping for Manifestation uses the standard Emotional Freedom Techniques protocol with a manifestation focus: before scripting, visualizing, or affirming a goal, you first tap through whatever resistance, doubt, or old belief is in the way. The theory is that you cannot effectively imprint a new belief while an emotional objection is still active, so tapping "clears the block" first. Each round starts with a karate-chop-point setup statement that names the problem and ends in self-acceptance ("Even though I don't believe I can have this, I deeply and completely accept myself"), then moves through eight face and body points with shorter reminder phrases, finishing with a reframe toward the desired belief. Rounds continue until the distress rating drops, then positive rounds reinforce the new belief.

How to do it

  1. Identify the specific limiting belief or emotional block standing between you and your goal (e.g., 'I don't deserve money', 'I'll never find love').
  2. Rate your distress about that belief from 0–10 (the Subjective Units of Distress scale).
  3. Tap the karate chop point (side of hand) continuously while repeating three times: 'Even though I [name the block], I deeply and completely accept myself.'
  4. Tap 5–7 times on each of the following points in order while repeating a short reminder phrase about the block: eyebrow (inner corner), side of eye, under eye, under nose, chin, collarbone, underarm (4 inches below armpit), top of head.
  5. Re-rate distress. If still above 3/10, run another negative round adjusting the phrase to 'this remaining fear…' or 'this part of me that still…'
  6. Once distress is at 2/10 or below, run a positive round: tap the same points while stating the belief you want to hold ('I am open to receiving…', 'I am worthy of…').
  7. Close by tapping the karate chop point with a single positive affirmation, place one hand on your heart, and take three slow breaths.
  8. Optionally proceed directly into scripting, visualizing, or affirming your goal — the idea is the channel is now clearer for the new belief to land.

What people use it for

  • clearing limiting beliefs about money, love, or self-worth before scripting or affirming
  • manifesting a specific person (SP) or relationship
  • releasing fear and resistance around career or financial goals
  • anxiety and stress relief as a prerequisite to visualisation
  • subconscious reprogramming to align self-concept with desired identity

Where it comes from

Roger Callahan, a clinical psychologist, developed the precursor technique Thought Field Therapy (TFT) in the 1980s after accidentally resolving a client's phobia by tapping a meridian point under the eye. Gary Craig, a Stanford-educated engineer trained under Callahan, simplified TFT into a single universal sequence and released it in 1995 as Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), making the manual freely downloadable. Nick Ortner and the Tapping Solution organization (founded 2007) popularized EFT for mainstream audiences; its application to manifestation and limiting-belief work grew prominently through the Law of Attraction community in the 2010s and became a dominant TikTok wellness category by 2022–2024.
